Description Marine Mechanical Engineer Level 2Business unit:Gibbs & Cox, as part of the Maritime Surface Division at Leidos has an opening for a mid level Marine Mechanical Engineer at all locationsPosition summary: Leidos Gibbs & Cox is seeking a Marine Mechanical Engineer Level 2 to support the design, analysis, and integration of marine mechanical systems for naval and maritime platforms. This mid-level role is suited for an engineer with experience applying technical knowledge, strong analytical skills, and interest in supporting ship design, system development, and lifecycle engineering efforts.Primary responsibilities:Works independently (with moderate supervision), or on project teamsPerforms calculations applying mechanical engineering principles, procedures, and criteria.Develops analyses and prepares technical reports and other engineering documentation.Develops ship propulsion and auxiliary system calculations and designs and prepares technical purchase specifications for major equipment.Supports engineering activities for systems that may include main and auxiliary propulsion, fuel systems, lubrication systems, seawater and freshwater systems, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systemsBasic qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience.Functional understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid systems, or shipboard systemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentProficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office applicationsMust be able to obtain a security clearance.Preferred qualifications:Career experience in marine, naval, or defense engineering+3 Years of experience with ship design, piping, HVAC, propulsion support, or auxiliary mechanical systemsProfessional Engineering or Engineer in Training certification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another applicable dis
